Narrative - If I can't, then I must!

Long time ago, there was a knight named Keith. He was really brave and mighty. He would do anything to protect and bring peace and justice to the city he lived in.

One day, monsters and dragons emerged out of nowhere and started to raid and destroy the city. Keith fought against them and when he thought he was winning, more monsters came. He was overpowered and could not do anything anymore as he was already exhausted. Land and buildings began to collapse. His most powerful armour could not take any more damages and shattered in the end.

He then tried to lure the monsters away from the city but they didn’t take the bait. The knight was powerless faced with the hordes of monsters. He wasn’t able to fulfil his promise to protect the city. The people were heavily injured and some dead. Keith, in a lapse of bravery, fled the city.

Weeks later, Keith returned to the city and saw most parts of the city were destroyed. The people blamed Keith for turning his back on them. They were so angry at him for abandoning them that they started to throw gravel at him. Keith knew that he deserved it and stood motionless, accepting his punishment.

As time went by, the people slowly rebuilt the buildings and even made the city bigger and better. Meanwhile, Keith upgraded the durability of his armour and sword, as well as improving his fighting skills and stamina.

Sooner than expected, the monsters came back again. This time, Keith was prepared to face them fearlessly. Even though there were more monsters this time, he gripped his sword tightly and shouted, “If I can’t, then I must!” and he began slaying the monsters with his mighty sword.

In the end, he landed his final blow, which costed his life, on the most powerful monster. When the war ended, he passed away, standing upright with his armour and sword still intact. The people mourned for Keith and his last words became the city’s motto – “If I can’t, then I must!”
