Descriptive - Describe a place where people meet
As Helen stepped into her favourite
café, the smell of freshly brewed coffee instantly awakened her olfactory
senses. The jingles from the door chimes resonated through the café after
shutting the door, announcing her arrival. She liked how the walls were not
made of conventional smooth cement and plain paint, but crude red bricks graced
with paintings and pictures depicting the olden time when coffee was first
found. The dim lighting emitting from the vintage brass sconces lining up along
the walls made Helen feel relaxed as she walked over to an empty seat by the
window bay. The soft and comfortable armchair that was beautifully crafted in
leather had the café’s intricate logo carved on both sides.
The coffee store is located in the
city, so it was not strange to see people bustling in and out of the café every
minute. Helen had already grown accustomed to the noise, so she sat back
comfortably and waited for the waiter to come and take her order. While
waiting, she studied the cutlery that was placed orderly on the wooden table.
The craftmanship was quite delicate and refined that it led me to believe that
they were crafted by human hands. The music drifted softly from all four
corners of the café was very comforting and relaxing. While Helen was absorbed
by the music, the waiter finally approached her and took her order. After
ordering and receiving her meal, almost instantaneously, she first took a sip
of her slightly sweet coffee, before nibbling down her carbonara.
From time to time, Helen could hear
the sound of glass clinking together and the noise that the chairs make when
being dragged out from under the table as customers took their seats. To
Helen’s surprise, it was quite satisfying and soothing to listen to the
tinkling sound of the till opening and closing every time a customer paid.
After her drink and meal, she paid
her bill and placed a generous tip on the tip plate. She took a step out of the
café and looked at the small chalkboard that was placed slightly near the door.
It screamed, “30% discount for all on Tuesdays!” and Helen nodded as if the
notice was talking to her. She is bound to return soon.
