A Trip to Japan

Jacqueline went to Japan with her parents last year. It was her reward for doing well in the examinations. She had heard a lot about the country from her Japanese classmate. Armed with the information, she flew there with her parents, hoping to see whatever she had learnt about the country.

Jacqueline had an exciting time in Japan. Besides being able to eat her favourite food like sushi and sashimi in quaint eating places, she also went shopping with her parents in Tokyo and had a great time. The things were expensive but unique. She found many shops selling her favourite Hello Kitty toy and there were many shops selling accessories for girls as well. Jacqueline’s parents also took her to see the Himeji Castle. Its stone tower, walls and gates gave it a majestic look. She learnt that it took nine years to build the castle. Jacqueline took many pictures there and she could not wait to show them to her friends. The most beautiful sight she saw in Japan was the cherry blossoms. Her parents took her to a park that was filled with small pink flowers. Jacqueline felt as though she was in paradise. She took many pictures surrounded by the beautiful flowers.

Jacqueline learnt a little about Japanese culture too. Although many of the Japanese did not understand English, she felt that they were very polite to her. They even tried to guide Jacqueline and her parents when they were lost. They also bowed to them. Her parents told her that it was their way of greeting people. In return, Jacqueline bowed to them too.

Before returning home, Jacqueline bought a kimono, a traditional Japanese costume, for herself. It was red with small pretty flowers all over. She liked the costume very much. She had an educational trip to Japan and she learnt a lot about Japanese culture. She would like to visit Japan again.
